Week 3 | James | Quick to Listen Slow to Speak

Two ears and one mouth offer a simple reminder for every relationship: listen first, speak carefully, and leave room for understanding. In conflict, the instinct to prepare a rebuttal or prove a point can close both ears and hearts. Compassionate curiosity changes the posture of a conversation, creating space to ask better questions, understand another person's perspective, and earn the right to have the next conversation.

Being right and being righteous are not the same thing. Human anger may defend a correct position while damaging the people we love, but humility takes off the need to win and trusts God enough to be slow with words. James 1:19-21 invites us to become quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry so that our marriages, families, friendships, workplaces, and church relationships can reflect the reconciling heart of Jesus.
