GOD’S JUSTICE

Series: Esther

Text: Esther 7–10

Big Idea

Because God is perfectly just, we can trust Him to make all things right and leave vengeance in His hands.

The Nature of God’s Justice

Justice is everything being restored to God’s intended order.

  • God loves justice because He is just.
  • We long for justice because we are made in God’s image.
  • Justice is rooted in righteousness—things being as they ought to be.

Trusting God’s Justice

The measure of your faith in God’s justice is often revealed by your willingness to surrender your own justice.

  • Revenge seeks retaliation.
  • Justice seeks restoration.
  • We must trust God to be the Judge.
  • We must trust God’s timing as well as God’s justice.

The Fulfillment of God’s Justice

At the cross, God satisfied both justice and mercy.

  • Justice demanded payment for sin.
  • Mercy provided a substitute.
  • Jesus received the justice we deserved so that we could receive the mercy we never deserved.
